The number of male victims of domestic abuse has gone up while the rate among women has fallen, according to new figures. About 1.2 million women and 651,000 men said they were domestic abuse victims in England and Wales in the year to March 2016, the smallest gap between the sexes on record. This equates to 7.7 per cent of women and 4.4 per cent of men, compared with 8.8 and 4 per cent respectively in the previous year.
